The EU-Japan trade agreement will make it easier and cheaper for them to do so. Fifth Japan is the Netherlands` fifth largest trading partner outside the EU. The Netherlands and Japan already have close trade relations. The EU-Japan trade agreement will give it a big boost. Several organizations, political parties and citizens have already taken steps to oppose the introduction of the free trade agreement. A demonstration was organised in Brussels, with the participation of 10,000 to 15,000 people.  Protests are also taking place in other countries. In Germany, for example, more than 320,000 people took to the streets.  On 28 October 2016, the Council of the European Union issued the final text of the treaty and a series of other statements in a press release.  If CETA is adopted, its effect, beyond the EU-Canada relations, will work beyond the “Most Beneficiary Nation” (MBN) clause. Mbn is the cornerstone of bilateral investment agreements, modelled on the WTO, and ensures that these contracts automatically become one of the contracting parties for anyone who grants a more investor-friendly status. The rights created by CETA for investors are sufficient to become the new MBN standard in several areas, which would require Canada and the EU to grant the same rights to investors in the countries to which they have made a promise from MBN.
. Although the lobbying of European and Canadian CERTs appears to have been taken into account from the outset of the negotiations, the text of the draft treaty has long been kept secret. Only the main lines of the convention have been made public. The intellectual property provisions were made public by WikiLeaks in 2009.  It was not until October 2013 that the outlines of the draft treaty were formally communicated.  On 14 August 2014, ARD published an internal EU document containing the full text. More than a month later, the European Commission finally published its first text.  By early 2020, 14 of the 27 countries had ratified the convention (end of 2017: 7); End of 2018: 4; End of 2019: 3) Common words: 1-300, 301-600, 601-900, Plus The intention was to approve the Convention at the Council of the European Union on 21 October 2016, until the signing at the Euro-Canada Summit on 27 October 2016. However, a refusal by the Walloon government, supported by the Brussels government, prevented Belgium from giving its approval to the Council.  Unlike the European Union, for example, the treaty has no supranational intent, but an international treaty. By signing the signature, the three countries commit to reducing or even abolishing import duties (a toll union), lifting restrictions on foreign assets and investment, and respecting the intellectual property rights of other Member States` products.
Once in force, the agreement will eliminate 99% of existing customs barriers between the two parties.  . In the Netherlands, Meer Democracy, Milieudefensie, Foodwatch and the Transnational Institute created the TTIP CETA Referendum Platform in 2015 to impose an advisory referendum on CETA if the treaty was adopted by the first and second chambers.
